Wood Flooring FAQ

More answers

Below are some of the questions we are asked most often beyond the basics. If yours is not here, our team is always happy to talk it through at the showroom or over the phone.

Common Questions

How long will a wood floor last?

A well-fitted, well-maintained engineered or solid oak floor will comfortably last for decades, and can be refinished along the way to refresh its look — one of the real advantages of a genuine wood surface.

Do you supply as well as fit?

Both. We supply and fit as one accountable team across Cambridge and Cambridgeshire, and also supply our floors on a supply-only basis for your own fitter.

How do I keep a wood floor looking its best?

Lift abrasive grit with regular sweeping or vacuuming, wipe spills promptly, clean with a barely-damp mop and a dedicated wood-floor cleaner, and use felt pads under furniture. Avoid steam mops and standing water.

Can wood flooring go in a kitchen or bathroom?

Engineered oak is well suited to kitchens. Bathrooms and wet rooms are more demanding because of standing water and humidity — we will advise honestly on whether wood is the right choice for a given room.
