Cut from a single piece of timber, a good solid floor can be sanded and refinished many times across its life, so it can be renewed rather than replaced for generations. We advise it where the subfloor and conditions are right — typically over timber joists in stable, well-ventilated rooms away from underfloor heating.
We supply and fit solid wood flooring as a single team, so whoever helps you choose the oak is accountable for how it looks once it is laid. Every project begins in our Cambridge showroom, where you can walk on full-size samples before you commit, and ends with a floor finished and cleaned ready to use.
Supplied and fitted to order by our own Cambridge craftsmen. We can also supply solid wood flooring on its own for your own fitter.
Oiled solid wood flooring is easy to live with: sweep or vacuum regularly, clean with a barely-damp mop and a pH-neutral wood-floor cleaner, and avoid standing water. Oiled finishes can be refreshed in high-traffic areas without sanding the whole floor, and a well-kept engineered oak floor will look beautiful for decades.
